6 Study Tips for New Students

If you're getting ready to start your higher education journey at YTI Career Institute (YTI), there are things you can do that may make the transition easier. Here are six study tips that may be helpful when jumping back into the academic world:

1) Buy Notebooks and Binders

Especially if you're a hands-on learner, keeping physical copies of things like syllabi, notes, study guides, etc., may prove to be very beneficial.

2) Get a Calendar

Seeing when your assignments and/or exams are due may help you to stay on top of deadlines.

3) Designate a Workspace

Especially if you're learning or working from home, designating a specific room or space in your house can help keep work and/or schoolwork separate from your everyday life.

4) Create a Schedule

A helpful way to work on your schoolwork is to set aside certain times dedicated to studying. By sticking to that schedule and spacing things out, you can give your brain a break and go back to the work when you're ready.

5) Turn Off Other Electronics

If you can, silence other electronic devices that may distract you such as phones, tablets, other computers, etc. By doing that, you can help eliminate distractions.

6) Take Breaks for Snacks

There are certain "brain foods" that prove to be beneficial for when you work or study. Remember to take breaks throughout the day to eat some snacks and keep your energy up.
