At YTI Career Institute (YTI) there are many programs that students may get involved in. YTI offers a total of 15 programs in the fields of business, computers, culinary arts, medical, and trades.

But what programs are offered for people looking to jump into a medical career field? There are seven options available.

Dental Assisting

• Program length: 10 months
• Offered at: York, Pennsylvania
• Learning format: Hybrid (lecture online, labs on campus)
• Skills learned: how to assist the dentist with dental procedures, how to provide patient education, infection control procedures, how to manage the front of a dental office, etc.

Expanded Function Dental Assisting

• Program length: 6 months
• Offered at: Lancaster, Pennsylvania
• Learning format: Lecture online (while COVID persists); Externship on ground
• Skills learned: placing restorations, sealants, coronal polishing, fluoride application, etc.

Health Information Management

• Program length: 20 months
• Offered through: Lancaster, Pennsylvania (but available almost anywhere)
• Learning format: 100% online
• Skills learned: managing electronic health records, ICD-10 and PCS coding, understanding disease and diagnostic methods, applying law and ethics to health information related scenarios, etc.

Medical Assistant

• Program length: 20 months
• Offered at: York, Pennsylvania
• Learning format: Hybrid (lecture online, labs on campus)
• Skills learned: how to find a good vein and draw blood from that vein, how to measure and weigh a baby, how to assist the physician in a specialty exam, how to document valuable information in the medical record, etc.

Medical Billing and Coding

• Program length: 10 months
• Offered through: Lancaster, Pennsylvania (but available almost anywhere)
• Learning format: 100% online
• Skills learned: how to create medical records, how to code in CPT and HCPCS format, how to schedule patients, how to manage insurance claims, anatomy and physiology, etc.

Respiratory therapy

• Program length: 20 months
• Offered through: Altoona, Pennsylvania (but available almost anywhere)
• Learning format: Hybrid (lecture online with clinical rotations at approved sites)
• Skills learned: blood gas analysis, patient assessment, newborn and pediatric care, oxygen therapy delivery, smoking cessation, etc.

Veterinary Technician

• Program length: 20 months
• Offered through: York, Pennsylvania (but available almost anywhere)
• Learning format: Hybrid ((lecture online with clinical externships at approved sites)
• Skills learned: skeletal and muscular anatomy, veterinary terminology, synthesis and function of macromolecules, caloric and nutrient requirements, etc.
