What to Expect on Your First Week Back to School
Starting your higher education journey can be exciting. At YTI Career Institute (YTI), students can gain their higher-education certification or degree in the fields of computers, culinary arts, healthcare, and trades. Programs are offered in a variety of different learning formats, as well as varied completion times.
Whether you're just beginning your higher-education journey or you're picking up after a while off, there are some important things to know before your first day.
Introduction Information
Depending on the class, the first few days may consist of introductory information. This may include syllabi, seating charts, grading rubrics, attendance expectations, and more. Make notes and save online documents to your computer for easy access when you may need them.
Meet New Students
When going back to school, there may be a good possibility that you won't know anyone. Within your first few days back to school, try and go out of your way to get to know some new people in the classroom. They may turn out to be study partners, carpoolers, or even friends down the line.
Get to Know Your Instructor
In your first few days, make sure to get their contact information, office hours, calendar link (if they have one), and anything else you may need to take advantage of extra time with them.
Prepare to Jump into Classwork
Some programs may allow for more time at the beginning of the term to go over things such as syllabi, office hours, etc., while others will have you jump into classwork and/or hands-on experience on your first day.
Going back to school can be a scary thing as well as exciting. To learn more about the programs that YTI offers, check out the program listings page. If you're ready to get started, visit the online application portal to apply.
