Getting to work as an HVACR Technician

HVACR technicians are in-demand. Are you ready to get to work?

Versatile employees
A career in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration industry offers flexibility and variety. HVACR technicians install, clean and maintain HVACR systems to ensure comfort in both residential and commercial environments. They install cooling and heating systems in homes during new construction. They also retrofit, upgrade or replace systems in schools, hospitals, office buildings, and factories. They often work independently, but may at times work as part of a larger team during commercial projects. Whether indoors or out, on-the-go or on-site, HVACR technicians are versatile employees.

An in-demand career
Job opportunities for HVACR technicians are expected to be good. Employment of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration mechanics and installers is projected to grow 15 percent from 2016 to 2026. This faster than average growth is expected to be driven by new residential and commercial construction, as well as the continued advancement of climate-control systems. Candidates who have completed postsecondary education and have developed troubleshooting skills will have the best job prospects.
