Training for a Pastry Arts career

What are students learning in our Pastry Arts program? What motivates them to train in this field? Let's find out!

Bailey Kramer, Pastry Arts student

"What got me into the baking field, I always loved baking as a kid and I love when people try the things that I bake. So I really wanted to put that in a professional career and just pursue baking professionally."

Angela Opalko, Pastry Arts student

"I also really like combining creativity and food together and I feel like pastry art has that."

Bailey Kramer, Pastry Arts student

"Right now I am in Retail and Production and Cake Decorating 1 (classes). I'm learning how to manage a bakery and create menus and help give instructions to some of the first term students that helped me. So it's kind of like me learning how to run my own Bakery."

Katie Klinedinst, Pastry Arts student

"If you truly want to like be elbows deep in dough every day and creating things people eat and enjoy and help the body survive, it's definitely the way to go. You could make a recipe a million times and it would change ever so slightly each time you do it. "

Angela Opalko, Pastry Arts student

"I learned how to make macarons perfectly. I tried like six times at home and it never worked out. So I learned new techniques in macarons and pastry cream, Bavarian cream. I just learned how to do it properly so I get the best results."
