YTI Career Institute vs. York Technical Institute
Do you still refer to YTI Career Institute as York Technical Institute? It's been about 5 years now since the name change but in the local community people often still refers to us by the old name.
York Technical Institute was established in 1967, when local businessmen in York, Pennsylvania, started a co-educational institution to train entry-level draftsmen in response to the expressed needs of area industries. YTI continued to grow and purchased a facility in Lancaster, PA and later purchased the Computer Learning Network schools in Altoona and Capital Region, PA. In 2006, the school changed its name to YTI Career Institute to encompass all the locations.
I like to think that York Technical Institute had such a great impact on the community, developing programs that had viable employment needs in certain fields and shaping the economy, that the name is hard to forget. It was that way for almost 40 years, so I can understand why the public in the York area still says York Technical Institute.
Regardless of the old or new name, our mission is the same: YTI is helping committed students attain rewarding careers through industry-modeled, student-centered, training and support of the highest caliber. The only difference is that we have expanded with campuses not only in York, but also Lancaster, Capital Region and Altoona. So remember, we are YTI CAREER INSTITUTE!
